Michael Slater apos;s Ex-partner Accuses The Cricketer Of Harassing Her

Australian cricket great Michael Slater's ex-partner has alleged he sent her a barrage of texts before showing up at her home, as the cricketer admits himself for mental health treatment following charges over an alleged domestic violence incident.
It is alleged Slater showed up at his ex-partner Melanie Livesey's home in Clovelly in east on the afternoon of October 12. 
Ms Livesey later went to Waverley Police Station and accused the cricketer of harassing her. 
She claimed Slater bombarded her with texts, calls and emails before he arrived at the eastern suburbs residence.

The 51-year-old cricketer was arrested on Wednesday morning and taken to Manly Police Station where he was interviewed and later charged.  
The former Test opener has been charged with using a carriage service to menace/harass/offend and stalk/intimidate intend fear physical harm.  

The intimidation is alleged to have occurred at two homes in Sydney's eastern suburbs, in Clovelly and nearby Randwick. 
Sean ­Anderson, who manages the cricket star, said Slater had been suffering from from mental health issues for a while.  
'Michael has been privately battling health and mental issues for some time now,' Mr Anderson said in a statement. 
'He has today admitted himself into care in order to continue his treatment.

He is also receiving legal advice in relation to today's charges.'

'On Tuesday, 19 October, officers attached to Eastern Suburbs Police Area Command commenced an investigation after receiving reports of a domestic violence incident alleged to have occurred on Tuesday, 12 October,' a police statement read. 
'Following inquiries, police attended a home at Manly and spoke with a 51-year-old man about 9.20am on Wednesday. 
'He was subsequently arrested and taken to Manly Police Station, where he was charged with use carriage service to menace/harass/offend and stalk/intimidate with intent to cause fear of physical harm.'
Slater has been granted conditional bail and is due to appear at Waverley Local Court on November 11.

Slater's arrest comes just over a week after the cricketer was sensationally axed from Channel Seven's cricket coverage.
His sacking from Channel Seven has been linked to his controversial comments criticising Australia's travel restrictions - after he flew to India to commentate on the Indian Premier League competition as the Covid-19 pandemic took hold.
At one stage he claimed Prime Minister Scott Morrison had 'blood on his hands' over his handling of the pandemic.

The retired opening batsman told the PM in a series of tweets to get on his private jet and 'come and witness dead bodies on the street'. 
'Amazing to smoke out the PM on a matter that is a human crisis.
The panic, the fear of every Australian in India is real!! How about you take your private jet and come and witness dead bodies on the street!', he wrote.
Speaking after the incident, the former batsman said he was 'completely overwhelmed' and did not mean to be 'disrespectful'. 
Slater had played 74 Tests for Australia between 1993 and 2001.

'The tweets came from a place of sheer desperation and wanting to get home to crying kids worried about their father,' Slater told The Courier Mail earlier this month.
'It got very emotional.
We got to Ahmedabad and we went past a Covid testing site. We'd see all these dead bodies on the side of the road. I've never seen anything like it in my life. It was so horribly confronting.
'If I had my time again, bearing in mind it could have had a link to what's just happened to me at Channel 7, no I wouldn't do it again.' 
Slater and his partner Melanie Livesey sold their home in Randwick in August this year for $5.65million, just a year after buying it for $3.8million. 
Two years ago, Slater was kicked off a flight following an argument with two female friends.

He had been boarding a Qantas flight from Sydney to Wagga Wagga when he became embroiled in a heated exchange with the two women he was travelling with. 
He then reportedly locked himself in the plane's bathroom, causing a delay in take-off, before leaving the flight. 
Slater joined Seven in 2018 after departing from Channel Nine.

He also played 42 one-day internationals scoring just under 1000 runs before retiring from major cricket in 2004.
